Baby Cakes for a Baby Shower
I made these for a friends baby shower over the weekend. The pink ones are cherry baby cakes with a lemon juice icing and glace cherries on top the blue/purple ones are blueberry baby cakes with an icing made of icing sugar and crushed blueberries with a blue berry one top. I would have done the crushed thing with the cherry baby cakes but I didn't have enough cherries and they don't crush as well as blueberries do.
There were both nice but I liked the cherry ones over the blueberry ones.
Something I didn't think about until after I looked at the photos was that I had made the icing colours almost exactly the same as the strawberry and grape nerds.

Uncertain
I was told recently that I haven't blogged in awhile. This is true. I could state that it is because I have been sick, but that isn't the real reason. The real reason is that I have nothing I want to blog about right now.
It is only really 6 weeks until the new year and I have no idea where I will be living in that new year. The only thing I know is that I will be moving, to one of four possible places. It is scary not knowing and feeling so uncertain about what is going to be happening next year.
So when my future becomes a little more, will probably be when I blog more.

Darn
I forgot my blogs anniversary again. Why can I not remember October 23. Anyway my point is that I have been blogging for over 3 years now. Sounds like another party time.
Yay Party Time
This will be my 600th post. If I was alert I would do something special. But this is all you get.

Hallowhedon
Last night my friends and I had a hallowhedon party, which is basically a Halloween party where everyone dresses up as Whedon characters. Well everyone except for 3 people, 1 that was just told we were having a party and didn't know it was a Halloween (hallowhedon) party, poor guy didn't even know there was going to be food and had already eaten. Another guy who didn't have time to find a costume, and I am pretty sure he didn't know it was hallowhedon party, anyway I gave him fairy wings for his costume. And the last person chose to celebrate the Day of the Dead instead.
It started off differently than what was expected because we had to change party location suddenly, but when we all got together it was great. Lots of food and talking. And game playing. One of the party members had newly invented a game, but that is not for me to talk about.
Anyway, what I actually wanted to blog about was the food I made for party.
Chocolate spider web mini tarts

Based on the chocolate tarts blogged about here. Instead of making the pastry myself, this time I bought it to save me some time and hassle. Same chocolate mixture. I used a writing icing tube of white chocolate fudge to do the spider web design, some were neater than others. Fun to make and very, very tasty.
And cookies
Pumpkin

Easy to make but took up a lot of space on the baking trays, as it was I had to use three and half trays. However I did make quite a lot of these
Cat

Harder than pumpkin to make (tail kept falling off) but took up less space, I made a lot of cats
Witch

Hardest to make, bits fell off everywhere and I didn't think it looked too much like a witch. I only made three.

Flowers
It is not really obvious from the last post but the coriander and the chives have actually flowered. The coriander will die now that it has flowered but I don't mind the flowers are so pretty and when it dies I will plant something else. I am pretty sure that it is fine for the chives to flower though. Please correct me if I am wrong though. Also the chives has another bud, which is nice because the chives flowers are really pretty.

Herbs
It has been awhile since I last posted about my little herb garden. The last time I posted was about how I planted garlic after the basil had died.

From bottom to top we have chives, coriander and parsley

From bottom to top we have lemon balm, mint, oregano and garlic
As you can see my little herbs are doing really well. We had some rain recently at the lemon balm, mint and oregano just shot up.

More Food
And guess what - more cupcakes.
Vanilla Saffron cupcakes with Rosewater Icing

Someone called these hand cream cupcakes because the icing reminded him of the hand cream his wife uses.
The saffron didn't show up as bright as I hoped - I guess I didn't use enough and the rosewater in the icing was a rather overpowering taste. However I really liked them. Whether I make them again will depend on whether or not I can justify the cost of that much saffron.
Chocolate Chilli Cupcakes

I made these for a friend's birthday, he has so desensitised himself to hot foods he could not taste the chilli in the cupcakes but he like the thought and the chilli's on top.
I wasn't going to try these myself because I am not a big fan of hot and spicy foods. It would have been the second type of cupcakes that I hadn't have tried - I never ate a chai one. But in the end I decided to eat one, they were surprising nice.
Will I make them again? For myself, no. For someone else, of course.
And introducing ...

... My cupcake Bake and Take Carrier.
Such a wonderful device, carries 24 cupcakes at once and is easy to use.

Orgasmic
It is that time again
Time for my monthly (or even longer) apology for not posting much.
Doing nothing really gets in the way of blogging because there is really nothing to blog about.
So in the next few posts you will find the stuff I managed to scrounge up to make it look like my life is interesting. It is photos mainly. Enjoy.

Should children witness childbirth?
Good question.
Here's your answer.
Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The
house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-yr old girl
to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he
helped deliver the baby.. Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was
asked. Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while, Connor was
born.
The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his
bottom. Connor began to cry.
The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the
wide-eyed 3-yr old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Kathleen quickly responded, 'He shouldn't have crawled in there in the
first place........smack his ass again!'
If you don't laugh at this one, there's no hope for you.

The Hokey Pokey -- Shakespearean Style!
O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon a backward journey lithe.
Anon, once more the gesture, then begin:
Command sinistral pedestal to writhe.
Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke.
A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl.
To spin! A wilde release from heaven's yoke.
Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl.
The Hoke, the poke -- banish now thy doubt
Verily, I say, 'tis what it's all about.

I am actually going to graduate
Only 6 years after I started at college but who's counting. For those who don't know there is a story I liked to call I'm never going graduate part 1, part 2 and part 3. I have survived almost a whole year of being sick, 2 failed pracs and one prac that I pulled out of.
Today I finished my last assignment, a presentation in front of a lecturer whose classes I never sat in and 2 students who had no idea who I was and vice versa. But none of that matters because now I am finished.
Now I am just waiting to see if I get a job. A rather agonising wait but one I must go through.
Lets hope when I do my masters it will go a little smoother.
